Urban Nature
We see the city as a living ecosystem, where human and non-human life, water, soil, and vegetation are part of the same urban fabric.
Shift + Space is an interdisciplinary collective working across architecture, urbanism, research and education.
We explore how spaces can become more accessible, ecological, collaborative and responsive to the people, communities and environments that shape them.
Some beginnings are not planned.
It started with a question: how did something we were so passionate about start feeling so distant?
University taught us to think about architecture. Practice showed us how different it could be. Somewhere between the two, something got lost.
So we started talking. About the gap. About what frustrated us. About what we would change if we could. Those conversations became SHIFT+SPACE: a space to question, learn, experiment, and find our way back to architecture on our own terms.
What began as a small conversation grew, bringing new people and perspectives into the mix.
And that is still how SHIFT+SPACE takes shape: through exchange, curiosity, and the willingness to shift perspective.
We translate urban research into hands-on experiences that empower communities and shape sustainable futures.
To build a world where cities evolve through collaboration, ecological intelligence, and community empowerment.
We see the city as a living ecosystem, where human and non-human life, water, soil, and vegetation are part of the same urban fabric.
We explore how people experience and shape their surroundings, creating space for participation, accessibility, and different perspectives.
We believe knowledge and ideas grow through exchange across disciplines, experiences, and the people involved.
Our manifesto brings together the ideas, principles and intentions that shape our practice.
